What a great event. The run was a bit short (2 miles), and the bike was flat and fast (no turns other than the turnaround). This played right into my wheelhouse, allowing me to place 6th overall male out of 191, and 3rd place Masters division. Weather conditions were good in that the Gulf was very calm, which is the biggest variable for this race. There was a bit of a tailwind on the bike out, and hence a headwind coming back in. It was a sunny day, and with no shade and 90 degree heat, it was good that the run was only 2 miles. I tied my best finish ever at 7th overall and 6th place male, but this was a much larger field with 330+ competitors and 190+ males!
