Slow, but happy to be racing
I had heart surgery at the end of January since my HR was routinely going to 220 during even moderate exercise. The ablation proved to be unsuccessful, so I started taking a twice daily pill. This was during the first week of the pill taking, and it proved to be too good. My HR would not go above 150 or so (normally around 170 for an event like this). So it was kind of a slow race, a good five minutes slower than the year before, but at least I was competing. Later this month I would cut back the medicine by 75% and that seemed to be a sweet spot preventing the outrageous HR numbers, but allowing me to go at full speed.
